A comforting and flavorful Taco Pasta Casserole that combines pasta, savory meat, and zesty seasonings for a family favorite.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef (or chicken/turkey)
- 16 oz pasta shells
- 15.5 oz salsa
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
- 2 (1 oz) packets taco seasoning
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 cup cream cheese or sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400˚F (200˚C).
- Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
- Brown the ground meat in a large pot until cooked through, draining excess grease.
- Add the cooked pasta to the pot with the meat.
- Sprinkle taco seasoning over the mixture, add salsa and water, and mix well.
- Spread shredded cheese on top and stir in cream cheese or sour cream if desired.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Cool for 5 minutes before serving, and garnish as desired.
Notes
Feel free to use low-fat options or add black beans for extra nutrition. Fresh herbs like cilantro or parsley make a great garnish.
