A comforting and easy-to-make Vanilla Chai Latte that brings warmth and connection to your family.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper (optional)
- 1 cup water
- 2 black tea bags or 2 teaspoons loose-leaf black tea
- 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 1 ½ tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Cinnamon or nutmeg sprinkle (for serving)
- Extra drizzle of honey (for serving)
Instructions
- Put the water in a small saucepan. Add the spices and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Simmer for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Add the tea bags or loose-leaf tea and steep for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Pour in the milk and heat gently. Stir in the honey or maple syrup and vanilla extract until dissolved.
- Strain the chai into mugs and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg, if desired.
Notes
For a richer flavor, steep the spices longer. Use whole spices for enhanced aroma and flavor.
