Salted Caramel Chocolate Cookies

Description

Deliciously soft cookies filled with rich chocolate and gooey caramel, topped with a sprinkle of sea salt.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup caramel candies, cut into small pieces
  • Sea salt, for sprinkling


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and caramel pieces.
  7. Drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Sprinkle a little sea salt on top of each cookie.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set.
  10. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
