Ingredients
- 1 18 1/4-ounce package yellow cake mix
- 1 egg
- 16 tablespoons melted butter (divided)
- 1 8-ounce package cream cheese (softened)
- 2 eggs
- 1 16-ounce box powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13 pan with parchment paper if desired.
- In a bowl, combine the cake mix, 1 egg, and 8 tablespoons melted butter, mixing until a sticky dough forms. Press into the bottom of a greased 9×13 baking pan.
- In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add 2 eggs, the remaining 8 tablespoons of butter, and vanilla, then mix until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix well. Spread this cream cheese mixture over the cake batter.
- Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, checking for doneness; the edges should set while the center remains slightly wobbly.
- Allow the cake to cool before slicing. Serve warm or chilled, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
