Ingredients

  • 6 croissants, torn into pieces
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or Swiss)
  • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled sausage or ham (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the pan)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and vanilla extract.
  3. Layer the torn croissant pieces in the greased baking dish.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the croissants.
  5. Sprinkle the cheese, sausage or ham, and green onions on top.
  6. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  7. In the morning, bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes or until the casserole is puffed and golden.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
