Description

A cozy and simple one pot meal that combines ground beef, elbow macaroni, and tomato sauce, perfect for busy families.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (lean or regular)
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional, such as mozzarella, cheddar, or Italian blend)

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic in a large pot until browned and onions are translucent. Stir as the beef browns so it breaks into small, even pieces. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add tomato sauce, beef broth, Italian seasoning, and pasta. Stir and bring to a boil, ensuring sauce and broth mix well.
  3. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  4. Stir in shredded cheese if desired and let melt before serving. Let the pot sit for a minute or two before serving warm.

Notes

For added flavor, use fresh basil and low-sodium beef broth. Optional ingredients include frozen peas or a squeeze of lemon for brightness. Great with garlic bread or a simple salad on the side.
