Description

Warm and comforting chocolate chip cookies that bring families together, inspired by Joanna Gaines’ treasured recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugars on medium speed until light and fluffy.
  4. Add salt, vanilla, and eggs; beat until combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture, beating just until combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto baking sheets, spacing them a few inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden and centers are set.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for better texture. Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter.
