Description

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and brown sugar until fluffy (about 2 to 3 minutes).
  4. Add the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough and roll them in powdered sugar until well coated.
  8. Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are firm but the centers are still soft.
  10. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. You can also freeze the cookies for up to three months.
