Description

A delightful recipe for soft and chocolatey cupcakes topped with rich frosting and playful decorative elements, perfect for bringing loved ones together.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Frosting:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (optional for color)
  • For Decoration:
  • Edible glitter or sprinkles
  • Chocolate or candy arrows
  • Heart-shaped candies

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup cupcake pan with paper liners.
  2. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Stir to combine.
  3. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar in a larger mixing bowl until pale and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then add the vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately add the dry mixture and the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix on low speed until just combined.
  6. Spoon the batter into liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 16-20 minutes until the top springs back and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the cupcakes cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. For the frosting, beat the softened butter until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar. Beat in heavy cream and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  10. Tint the frosting as desired with food coloring and pipe or spread it onto cooled cupcakes.
  11. Decorate with edible glitter, sprinkles, chocolate arrows, and heart candies.
  12. Let the frosting set before serving or transporting.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for best results. Make variations by adding mini chocolate chips or adjusting the type of sugar used.
