A comforting and nostalgic apple crumble recipe filled with sweet and spicy scents, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 1/2 lb Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and chopped (about 6 to 7 cups)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar or brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch or all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Mix until well blended.
  3. Add the melted butter to the dry mix and stir until it resembles wet sand or coarse crumbs. Set aside.
  4. In another bowl, toss the chopped apples with the granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch or flour, and salt until coated.
  5. Sprinkle the apples with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
  6. In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread the apple mixture evenly and top with the crumble mixture.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For best results, use fresh Granny Smith apples. Feel free to mix in other apple varieties for added flavor.
